Salsa Na’ Má - founded and led by Birger Sulsbrück is celebrating its 35th anniversary in 2014. This dynamic 11-piece Danish Salsa band was the first European Salsa group to be invited to Cuba, for a one-month tour playing at the carnivals and concerts throughout the country in 1983.
Salsa Na’ Má celebrated its 20th anniversary in 1999 with a two-week concert tour to Havana, Cuba - performing together with bands such as N. G. la Banda, Conjunto ChappottÌn and Anacaona. The response to the band from these top Cuban musicians as well as the audiences was unanimously positive. While in Havana the band also recorded material for the CD - “Salsa Na’ Ma in Cuba” - with the famous Rumba group Los Papines as guest artists.
The repertoire of Salsa Na’ Má is what could be called "Salsa Clasica" - a tasteful blend of traditional Cuban music mixed with the styles of today and folkloric styles such as Rumba and Bembé. New York Salsa is also a main ingredient.
Salsa Na' Má has played at festivals throughout Europe, together with groups like Tito Puente, Mongo Santamaria, Los Van Van and Anacaona - at places like "Fiesta de Salsa" in Cologne, "Jazz Jamboree" in Warsaw, "Jyväskylä Summer Jazz Festival" in Finland, "Copenhagen Jazz Festival" in Denmark and "Telemark Folkmusic Festival" in Norway.
The band has previously released two LP's: "Salsa Na’ Má” and "Diferente" receiving much acclaim from the music press and extensive air play on radio stations throughout the world. The band is also featured on the CDs "World Music from Denmark".

COCO SON is the new small salsa band in Copenhagen, Denmark. This quartet is also the rhythmsection of the 11-piece band Salsa Ná Ma. Coco Son often plays with more singers, horns and percussion.

COCO SON
One of Birger Sulsbrück's favorite activities is educational concerts for children. Every year 5000 children experience ’Krølle’ (Curley), as he is called, at school and family concerts. Birger Sulsbrücks new project “Krølle & Cocodrilo” (Curley and the Crocodile) – is at the moment touring around Denmark.

Birger Sulsbrück has more than 35 years of experience in Latin American music and started Denmark’s first authentic salsaband, Salsa Na’ Ma’ in 1979. The band also performs as the quartet Coco Son, and is probably Denmarks most used salsaband for both live-concerts, children arrangements, tv-performance and workshops.
